We should respond with thankfulness and take good care of all that God has given to us.
MAIN POINT: We are grateful for everything because Jesus has loved us first.
STORY: “The man who didn’t have any friends (none)” (p. 264, Jesus Storybook Bible)
**PARENTS: Use these questions as a starting off point for discussion, or ask your own questions that may best relate to your child. Allow your child to ask questions as well!
No one liked Zacchaeus, and he didn’t have any friends.
- What would it be like to not have any friends? How would you feel if no one ever wanted to play with you?
Zacchaeus was very surprised that Jesus wanted to come to his house and be his friend.
- What are some times when you felt really thankful?
- How do you show others that you are thankful for them?
Zacchaeus is so thankful for Jesus’ love and friendship that he chooses to be generous and give back much more.
- Are you thankful you know about Jesus? What are some things you know about Jesus that makes you happy?
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)
**PARENTS: End in prayer together. You may choose to lead prayer or encourage your child to pray with you. This is a great opportunity to teach them how God longs to hear our thoughts and feelings by talking with Him.
Here is an activity to help us remember what we’ve learned today.
