We believe that part of our devotion to God includes helping those who are in need and less fortunate than ourselves. 1 John 3:17-18 says "But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth."
At Blue Sky, we believe that every Christian should cultivate a heart of helping those who are in need. To help in our community, Blue Sky distributes bags of food to low-income families and individuals. Each month, one of our Small Groups pick up bags at Blue Sky and fill them with a list of non-perishable goods. They are distributed by our Small Groups to low-income neighborhoods in Seattle and on the East side. We have found this to be a practical way to remember those less fortunate than ourselves, and help those who are in need in a relevant and impactful way. We distribute food bags through our Small Groups because it is our hope that each Small Group member will grow and cultivate a heart of helping and loving those around them in their own community.
